South Africa coming with 4 wins and one loss in previous five matches is all in hopes to start the campaign in a winning way while the former World Cup lifters West Indies coming from not so good season recently will put a strong foothold to show their presence to other nations. Probably it’s the first toughest match in Group B as both the teams are most experienced and moreover insurmountable to guess play. Both the teams will look forward for a positive end to carry forth a winning mindset towards the end of the group matches.

South Africa

Defeating all its opponents in the last four matches India, Zimbabwe and the so called world’s best team Australia; is looking forward to lay a strong path for its campaign. Kallis back from injury and seemed relatively strong in the warm ups who will be accompanied by Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith and de Villiers in the middle order and person to look in the batting line up is Plessis who is in form.

On the bowling side, Steyn with 3 for 21 over Australia in the warm up’s a strong favorite for Thursday’s match too and Peterson too coming with a good form in Warm ups. Morkel in accompanying Steyn will be a strong decision of SA to control West Indies and other bowlers Tsotsobe who is in form, new bowler Imran Tahir will be a good chance for SA to conquer Indies line up.

South Africa Best XI : Graeme Smith (Captain), Hashim Amla, Johan Botha,AB de Villiers (WK), JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Colin Ingram,Jacques Kallis, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Robin Peterson,Dale Steyn, Imran Tahir, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Morne van Wyk (WK).

West Indies

Under Sammy’s captaincy West Indies will go ahead on Thursday but the threat came in as they ruled out two of the important players Adrian Barath opener of the match and Carlton Bough the wicket keeper who sustained injuries which will be a big blow to the team. However, the experienced Chanderpaul may shoot up some unexpected results against proteas is also a good stance in the middle order.

Kemar Roach is expected to open the bowling spell with Andrew Russell which may not match up with Steyn and Morkel. On the spinning side Benn would be a decision to bang on for West Indies while Ravi and Bravo could make it an expensive affair.

West Indies Best XI : Darren Sammy (Captain), Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo,Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Devon Smith,Sulieman Benn, Nikita Miller, Carlton Baugh (WK), Andre Rusell,Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Adrian Barath.

Bangladesh vs India head to head record

Total played: 22. India wins: 20; Bangladesh wins: 2

In the sub-continent: 20. India wins: 19; Bangladesh wins: 1

In the World Cups: 1. India wins: 0; Bangladesh wins: 1

Bangladesh caused one of the biggest upsets of the 2007 World Cup by defeating India and being instrumental in their early elimination. This is the only time they have faced each other in a World Cup match. Tamim Iqbal was the batting hero while Mashrafe Mortaza was the man of the-match for his bowling.

Bangladesh's recent form record and 8 wins out of their last 10 matches yielding results, including their 4-0 wins against New Zealand at home, has been one of their best runs making them feel very confident, playing at home.

India's recent form record is not as inspiring in ODIs for the team ranked the number one test nation. However, with the side decimated by injuries, they were praised for their spirited performance in South Africa. They, too, will be buoyed by their 5-0 wins against New Zealand at home, although they will be worried about the Houdini acts their lower middle order or lesser acclaimed bowling attack have had to perform to compensate for the top order batting failures and/or injuries.

Bangladesh's 18-18 win-loss record at the Shere Bangla National Stadium is much better than their overall win-loss record of 64-178. Clearly the home crowd helps them perform better than at most other places. India have won seven out of the 10 matches they have played at this ground.

Opener Tamim Iqbal will be the one Bangladesh player everyone will be watching. He has come a long way from his precocious half century against India in the 2007 World Cup, and will look to give his team a strong, dynamic start.
