Todays picture is Proto-Movellans I by IcehawkPrime, "the Prime Mechanoid regarded the image projected in front of it. Ever since the attack by the aggressor aliens designated 'Daleks', the Mechanoids had realised that the standard Servitor units defensive capabilities were insufficient to protect the colony they had held in waiting for the Human colonists for three hundred and seventy-five years. The Humans were behind schedule but would no doubt turn up soon. New defensive and offensive units were required, so the Science Mechanoid had researched Earths most effective defenders, a contingent of women warriors on Earths first Moonbase, to use as a base paradigm. The first two prototype units, designated 'Movellans' were now ready for testing and deployment."

SFX
has Doctor Who’s Fangtastic Foes, A brief history of blood- (or other substances-) suckers in Doctor Who, SFX’s irregular Vampire Specials are prioving so mindbogglingly popular we just can’t stop producing them. It’s almost like we’ve launched a new magazine on the sly. There’s a new one out on Wednesday (keep on eye on this site for details), and so to get you in the mood, here’s one of the features from the previous Vampire Special....

Paul Magrs has posted Dalek Flowers, "ace Doctor Who writer Lance Parkin noticed that I’d been reading old Who comic strips and sent me the fascinating image above, and this email: “I just saw on your blog that you’re re-reading the TV Comic stories …me too! Good grief, they’re mental in places. I like the way they casually drop lines like ‘this is the place the scientists and wizards meet up to compare notes’. And the Quark one set on a planet colonised by the Bullingdon Club with a bunch of Tories hunting their servants....

Frost Magazine has In The Pink – How Doctor Who Turned Gay, seeing as Time Lords seemingly don’t have the habit or ability of changing sex or race, the talk is always irrelevant and frankly, redundant. But that doesn’t stop the lively debate every time there’s a change of face.....

Doc Oho's Big Finish audios reviews has Catch-1782 written by Alison Lawson and directed by Gary Russell (I know I say this over and over…but was there another director at Big Finish, when the Doctor and Mel visit the National Foundation for Scientific Research as it celebrates its centenary, Mel expects only to be able to catch up with her uncle. She doesn’t expect to meet her own ancestors... What is buried in the grounds of the Foundation? What secret has Henry Hallam kept from his descendants for three hundred years? Can Mel escape her own past? Visiting your relatives can sometimes be trying, but surely it should never be this difficult?...

He has also posted The Ratings War written by Steve Lyons and directed by directed by Gary Russell, "in an interview I posted on my Doctor Who novel blog Steve Lyons commented that he liked the sixth Doctor but didn’t think he was always handled properly on TV. Clearly he knows exactly what he wants to do with the character with this quirky piece because he makes him one step ahead at all times, blisteringly prescient with his criticisms of reality TV and outfoxing the Most High in the funniest of ways! Its another grand showing for Colin Baker who throws himself into the silliness with real gusto....."

Tachyon TV has An Unearthly Child, "Watching Doctor Who from the very beginning isn't anything new. But with Tachyon TV there's a twist. My wife, who isn't a fan of the classic series, will be providing the commentary. Will we make it beyond The Keys of Marinus? And, more to the point, will our marriage survive?...."

Voyages Extraordinaires has The Myth Makers (Story 20, 1965), Doctor Who's twentieth story is what is called a "Shaggy God" trope. Specifically the term is meant to describe any type of story where Biblical events are given a Science Fiction explanation, such as Adam and Eve being astronauts or Ezekiel's chariot being a UFO. It works for nearly any great legend and literature of antiquity, however, including the Trojan War. Who better to double as Zeus but the irrascible old original Doctor?...

Comfy Chair has Book Review: The Time Travellers, the BBC's Past Doctor Adventures, like their Virgin predecessors the Missing Adventures, could often be mixed affairs. Some Doctors and eras proved difficult to replicate either character or story others would be overdone to the point of being nothing but a series of cliches....

The Edwardian Adventurer has 075 – Journey into Terror (The Chase Part 4), the Doctor becomes convinced that they were in the human mind, but as the camera later shows, it is an abandoned haunted house from a carnival. For some reason, it is still operational and the robots that portray Frankenstein, Dracula, and a banshee are immune to Dalek weaponry.....

The Doctor In The TARDIS
has Review: Eighth Doctor Audio - Dead London, so whats good about it? Dead London is the perfect opening audio to what is a brilliant second season. The story, while fast paced and spread out among many different areas of the one location, never allows you to get lost along the way and is full of action and suspence......

Bigger On The Inside has “Winner Takes All”, ‘Enlightenment’ by Barbara Clegg is a story of contrasts. The conflict and reversals in the story are used to create surprise and wonderment in the viewer. This makes the story an excellent guide to using such combinations to create intriguing adventures.....

Podcast Review's...

Krynoid Podcast has released 016: Enlightenment, why could a pig never become a sailor? He can't look aloft! What are we on about? It's the 1983 Peter Davison story Enlightenment of course, the subject of the latest Krynoid Podcast. Jim and Martin take a long look back at this twentieth anniversary tale which not only features the hilarious joke above but also draws to a close the Black Guardian trilogy of stories. Why not have a listen as we discuss an Eternal who is infatuated with Tegan (as were we!), some rather good / pretty poor model work (depending on who you believe), a pantomime performance from Nurse Gladys Emmanuel, and just who is the best Davison companion?

alun.vega's posterous has Torchwood has landed, given that most of the cast and key crewmembers are jetlagged, it seemed appropriate that their first day of filming should be at an airport. Scenes featuring John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Dichen Lachman, and Tom Price were filmed yesterday at the British Airways maintenance facility at Cardiff airport. Despite the secure location, a few snippets slipped out, the least surprising being: it was cold out there on the tarmac.....
