Northants Evening Telegraph has Delight as Derek the Dalek is released from kidnappers' clutches, He may be Doctor Who's most famous foe, but hasn't stopped the people of Orlingbury celebrating the return of their Dalek, who has been missing more than six months, John Norton, of Orlingbury, said: "He is a well-known character in the village, loved and respected by all. We are pleased he is alright, he was found in a garage in Rothwell, of all places. It was just before Christmas, we had a mysterious anonymous phone call, Tthe children of the village and particularly his two creators are very pleased he's back, we're glad to see him back because he missed the conker championship in October and missed our New Year's Eve bash"....
The Independent has The next Time Lord has to be a Lady, fans call it 'heresy', but if Doctor Who is to become even better, says Ben Walsh, the show should consider a sex change, the Doctor Who special, A Christmas Carol, was a hoot – much better than the Kylie Minogue-starring hogwash three years ago – but can the BBC's wonderfully inventive sci-fi series retain such heady standards? Is a radical change needed? Should the next regeneration of the Doctor, the 12th, be... wait for it... a woman?
Smith's acting 'stunned uni mates', Matt Smith made his pals "go cold" with his acting talents while at drama school, actress Becci Gemmell has revealed. Becci, who's returning to her role as Joyce in wartime drama Land Girls, revealed that she studied drama with the Doctor Who star at university and that he was always bound to be a star, she said: "I haven't seen him for a long time but we did plays together at uni. He was amazing. I remember him doing an audition speech for Ghosts - I ended up playing his mum - and he just made us go cold, It was like raw talent had walked in and the rest of us were all just fumbling about trying to work out what drama's all about but he had it in spades, he just knew", she added: "I definitely thought 'this guy is going to be famous'"
The Mill Art Centre has An evening with Mark Gatiss, Friday 7 January at 7.30pm, the actor, novelist, broadcaster and dramatist will be interviewed by John Arthur who people will recognize from My Family, The Grimleys, Skins, Barbara, Fresh Fields, Coronation Street etc, writer and star of innumerable television scripts including The League of Gentlemen, Doctor Who, the recent BBC 4 production of Sherlock, in which he co-starred as Mycroft, and most recently The First Men in The Moon, also for BBC4. Wildly amusing, with a strange obsession with the macabre, Mark is in demand on programmes such as QI, as well as having his own BBC series on the history of horror. An informal evening, with the chance to meet and chat to Mark Gatiss.....

Gallifreyan Embassy has Ambassadors of Death Restoration gets a boost!, as reported in Wired magazine the restoration of Ambassadors of Death has gotten a boost due to a new editing computer, "their method is a refined version of that trialled on the 2009 Planet of the Daleks re-release; it is now being deployed on a seven-part 1970 Jon Pertwee adventure, The Ambassadors of Death. "It seemed almost recordings, they didn't filter off the colour carrier [encoded as a 'chroma dot' pattern in each frame], which for the last few decades has been nothing more than an annoyance." Team member Richard Russell used the signal to reverse-engineer raw colour pictures that could be retouched frame by frame.....
They also report that Alex Kingston is Scheduled for Thursday's Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, this Thursday (6th January 2011), although she is not listed (at the time of this writing) in the upcoming shows for free tickets (they are actually recording two shows on Thursday according to their website, one at 3pm with actor Gary Sinise and one at 4:15pm with actress Mila Kunis - the latter being sold out), it was announced that "River Song" would be on Thursday's song via Craig Ferguson's Twitter feed. In addition, the Doctor Who musical opening number ("cold open") which could not be aired last November has finally been cleared for this show.....

Dirty Whoers has Twas the Night Before Christmas..., the Prof said I should do this review in rhyming couplets, as befits the title. I said he should bl**dy well write it himself, then. Funnily enough, he shut up at that point. Also funnily enough, I never actually got round to writing a review of the third adventure game installment "TARDIS", which is slightly unfair as it was a fun little game. Bit short, but fun......
Tegan (Jeffrey Scott) has Dr. Who (The Early Years) - Part 14 "The Power of Regeneration", the Doctor has survived (sort of) his first encounter with the Cybermen. Instead of using the term regeneration, the Doctor calls his change a 'renewal'. Ben is sceptical, but Polly takes him at his word. However, no rest for the weary as the next adventure takes the Tardis crew to the planet Vulcan, an Earth colony. It isn't long before they run into trouble and a dead body.,,,,

The Nerdist has Does Continuity Interfere With Storytelling?, "as many of you will know, I watch an inordinate amount of Doctor Who, from all eras, and a show that’s been on for the better part of 50 years is bound to have a huge amount of continuity built up that the fans, some of the most fervent of the lot, accept as gospel......"Podcasts...

Tea with Morbius has The Highest Science, by Gareth Roberts (Virgin New Adventure), the Seventh Doctor and Bernice investigate a mysterious power known as the 'Highest Science', like many of the New Adventures, The Highest Science divides opinions. Many fans regard it as one of the best of the New Adventure novels. On the other hand, a fair few readers, including NA diehards were unimpressed by it. I found it more enjoyable to read than Lucifer Rising and Deceit, but it is certainly not one of my favorite NAs.....
Shadowlocked reviews Arc Of Infinity, ....;.was the first story of season 20, a clutch of stories that was designed to feature various friends and foes from The Doctor's past. A nice idea in theory - in practice it got a little botched. For one thing, the Dalek story planned to wrap up the season was postponed until the next one. The Mara had only been in the previous season, while the Guardians hardly featured in the much-anticipated Guardian trilogy. A bit of a con overall, especially since only two stories - Mawdryn Undead and Arc Of Infinity - heavily drew on the show's history....
The Edwardian Adventurer has 058 – The Web Planet Part 1 and 059 – The Zarbi (The Web Planet Part 2), much like every episode that will follow, there are good things and bad things in this story. Let’s be positive and start with the good. The planet itself is wonderfully realized. It is supposed to look dead, and it most certainly does. In fact, this set seems to reflect photographs of heavenly bodies such as moons and asteroids. It is natural to envision a planet in this way, and it is rather odd to think that this is the first planet on Doctor Who to look like this.....Podcast Review's...
