So Much More Than This… has The Natural History of Evil: Necessary Evils, if the complete history of Doctor Who is written – something which I sincerely doubt will ever happen – then the astonishing renaissance of the series’ fortunes in the middle 2000s will surely receive much attention. The programme went from being an ex-TV series (albeit one with a strong grasp on the public’s affection), continuing in at least three different media (each the subject of its own fierce cult following), to something vibrant and focussed and vastly successful in the mainstream. And this seemed to happen virtually overnight....

Radio Free Skaro has 232 - Hooked on Radiophonics, setting the wayback machine all the way… um, back… to Radio Free Skaro #230 you’ll remember the lads had the Randomizer throw them a curve ball in the shape of Dick Mills as a miniscope subject. As those familiar with the sound design of Doctor Who are aware, Mills is the most-credited person on the show thanks to his long tenure with the Radiophonic Workshop. Where to begin? What to discuss? The only answer was to bring in a ringer in the form of Radiophonic Workshop archivist and Doctor Who composer in his own right, Mark Ayres. Settle in with your Doctor Who sound effects LP, a nice hot beverage, and join not one but two special guests in this episode of Radio Free Skaro as we also have Chip from the Two-minute Time Lord sit in Warren’s seat for some tantalizing nerdery.....

Elementary, My Dear Reader has “Boom Town” by Russell T. Davies, in Cardiff, six months after the events of “Aliens of London” and “World War III,” something is going wrong with the construction of a nuclear power plant. Mickey Smith is also in town, looking for the TARDIS, which is parked just over the Rift (from “The Unquiet Dead”) at Roald Dahl Plass. The rift is like a fault line in time and space, exuding energy. The TARDIS is parked over the rift in order to soak up some of the energy....

The Edwardian Adventurer has 064 – The Lion (The Crusade Part 1), the TARDIS materializes in The Holy Land during The Crusade. Barbara is captured by Saracens while The Doctor, Ian, and Vicki rescue King Richard the Lionheart from attack, to go from the insect planet of Vortis to the Holy Land is quite a change. However, it is not a bad one. The Web Planet proved to be a surprisingly imaginative and effective story....

Shadowlocked reviews Terminus, mirror mirror on the wall. Who is the fairest of them all? Well it certainly ain't me, since my sun-baked-Gollum-in-a-wig visage smashed the mirror into tiny fragments only this morning. In Doctor Who-land though, put The Hand Of Fear or The Stones Of Blood in a mirror and you get... Terminus!, Tenuous link? Maybe. But then I'd argue that those two Tom Baker stories are made up of three strong parts and a weak final one, whereas Terminus works on the reverse principle in most fans' eyes: an excellent first part goes steadily downhill into a runaround that's so dull it could be hosted by Mike Reid at the local Tory Party Conference (well, in 1983 anyway)....
