TV Squad has 'Torchwood' Creator Russell T Davies Talks about the Show's 'Miracle' Season (VIDEO), a couple of years ago, the sci-fi-flavored show, which follows a secretive team that battles threats to Earth, abandoned the monster-of-the-week structure that it had used in its first two seasons. In 2008's 'Torchwood: Children of Earth,' creator Russell T Davies abandoned that format to tell a morally complicated story that spanned five tightly linked episodes.....
The Doctor Who News Page has Doctor Who Unlimited, the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine contains the news that the popular publication is to gain a North American spin-off title from April. Produced in the UK by Panini, as the original magazine is.
Doctor Who Unlimited will apparently not be a versioned edition of DWM, but will be a separate publication in its own right, containing "100% new material".
Unlimited will be edited by John Ainsworth, who has contributed various features to DWM in the past, and has recently been credited as the magazine's "Editorial Assistant".
He explained to DWM that "Doctor Who unlimited will have slightly more of a focus on the fictional side of Doctor Who and will also be giving regular coverage to the fans themselves", the first issue of the 44-page magazine will be available on newsstands in the US and Canada from the 7th of April.
There is currently no information as to whether readers outside of North America will be able to order copies.
They also report the sad news of the death of Norman Taylor, one of the men behind the iconic Doctor Who title sequence, has died, in 1963 Norman Taylor was a BBC Technical Operations Manager on Crew 9 based at Lime Grove in London. He was the man who, while experimenting with a camera looking at a monitor showing its own picture, made the serendipitous discovery of "visual howlaround" - the effect that was subsequently used for Doctor Who's original title sequence....Scanner selected posts...

tor.com has Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey: Top 5 Doctor Who Paradoxes, "Yesterday, I traveled into the future and read a blog on Tor.com about temporal paradoxes in Doctor Who. To my horror, I realized the blog was written by me! So without missing a trick, I copied and pasted the text into a Word document, copied that document to my flash drive, grabbed my vortex manipulator and popped back into this Wednesday and pasted the text into a blog. Whew! I’m pretty sure this is a predestination paradox, or maybe an ontological paradox. I mean when did I write this thing in the first place? What do I mean by first? Anyway, The Doctor has dealt with a lot more of these things than me. Here are five of the best...."
Topless Robot has 6 Ways the Sixth Doctor from Doctor Who Got Screwed, in 1984, Peter Davison left Doctor Who as his version of the Doctor, the gentle, much-loved fifth, regenerated into the sixth. Producer John Nathan-Turner and others on the production staff felt it was time to take the series in another direction and perhaps return to the darkness and ambiguity of the show's early years. The actor chosen to herald this shift in tone was Colin Baker, who had appeared in a smallish part on the show before and had made a good impression on Nathan-Turner and others at a party....
Austen and Aliens has Alien Appreciation: The 456 of Torchwood: Children of Earth, from the first episode of this miniseries, when the 456 decide to get the attention of the entire world by simultaneously speaking through all of earth's children, I was suitably freaked, but my genuine horror at this alien race was only heightened by the decision to never show a clear image of their form. They appear inside a specially-designed tank in a pillar of blinding light....

Shadowlocked reviews The King's Demons, what's that? who's Kamelion? well, amazingly Kamelion was supposed to be the new travelling companion of The Doctor, except with a twist. With C3PO a familiar metal face at the time, Doctor Who came up with its very own metal man, a shape-shifting robot that had been captured by The Master for use on the planet Earth in 13th-century England...

Doctor Who Unlimited sounds like it might turn out to be a better magazine than Doctor Who Magazine. Can they start selling it in the UK?I get Doctor Who magazine every month, but I do get sick of the way it panders to the BBC Wales production team and takes such an uncritical stance. Still, the new look format this month looks good. Maybe DWM is going to get a lot better.
