BBC Doctor Who - Invasion Week, Day Four: The Sontarans

Visit the the Sontarans' Monster page now! The 1973/74 adventure, The Time Warrior, proved a landmark story. It introduced Sarah Jane Smith and was the first time we learnt the name of the Doctor's home planet - Gallifrey. It also featured the debut of the Sontarans, a race of cloned killers, hungry for war and revelling in destruction. In that story the Doctor defeated a solitary Sontaran, Jingo Lynx, and soon afterwards he faced another - Styre, in The Sontaran Experiment. This militaristic race later appeared en masse in The Invasion of Time and The Two Doctors before making a chilling return in the Tenth Doctor story, The Sontaran Stratagem. They've appeared in The Sarah Jane Adventures and most recently turned up at Stonehenge during The Pandorica Opens. The Sontarans one of the Doctor's most iconic enemies, and they get their own monster page today, complete with clips, galleries and a new jigsaw.
