The Nerdist has Doctor Who for Newbies: The Second Doctor, when it came time for William Hartnell to leave the show, due to failing health and an inability to remember his lines, there was talk of simply letting the show end. After all, three years was a decent run by BBC standards. Still, the ratings were very good and it was decided to liven things up with a change of lead actor. So, at the end of the fourth episode of “The Tenth Planet,” the second story to season four, after defeating new enemies the Cybermen, the First Doctor claimed his old body was wearing thin and lay down on the floor. A few flashes of light and a decent dissolving effect – even by today’s standards – and the Doctor was now Patrick Troughton.

Doctor Who Spoilers has...



  • Set reports from Bristol (20th September), at Waring House this during the final locations shoot for episode four “What Are Little Boys Made Of?”


  • More casting news for Episode Four, Andrew Tiernan will be playing Mr. Purcell in What Little Boys Are Made Of?, Andrew has appeared in a number of television show and films, most notably he played Whitaker in Murderland and Gavin in the first series of Survivors. He also appeared as Ephialtes of Trachis in the film adaptation of 300.


Bleeding Cool has Last Night’s Doctor Who Set Shots From Bristol, this is a three day shoot of the third episode (written by Mark Gatiss). Specific locations included flat interiors, stairwells, corridors, and the area by the bins with an old lady and children. There was also late night filming in the garag section with the TARDIS.

Digital Spy has Adam Rickitt cast in 'Doctor Who'?, former Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt has apparently won a role in the next series of Doctor Who, the actor's Spotlight page suggests that he will play the character of Ben in the third episode, directed by Richard Clark.
