In October, 1966, viewers witnessed a group of impassive humanoids emerge from a blizzard in the South Pole, striding through the snow as if the sub-zero temperatures meant nothing to them. These giants were to become one of the Doctor's most enduring enemies: the Cybermen! The First Doctor defeated them and the Second Doctor fought them across the universe, from their tombs on Telos to London, England. The Third Doctor encountered them on Gallifrey, the Fourth on Voga, the so-called Planet of Gold, and they were responsible for the death of the Fifth Doctor's companion, Adric. More recently, they were part of the alliance of old enemies who locked the Doctor in the Pandorica. The Cybermen remain one of the Doctor's most iconic enemies and kick off a week of monsters invading this site!
