This week saw the Doctor's former companions, Sarah Jane Smith and Jo Jones (née Grant), meet for the first time, in Death of the Doctor. And inevitably, when two old time travellers get together they're not just going to talk about the weather. They touched on Daleks, drashigs, Metabelis III and the Amazon, too... And they also discovered they'd both visited the planet Peladon and remembered Aggedor.The two stories to feature the so-called 'Royal Beast of Peladon' were The Curse of Peladon and The Monster of Peladon. In the first story, the Doctor and Jo discovered that Aggedor was more than a revered symbol of Peladon society, it was a living creature, roaming and roaring in the labyrinthine tunnels beneath the planet's royal courts. The Doctor managed to hypnotise Aggedor (after an untimely intervention from Jo!) in a bid to convince the King that the 'spirit' of the beast was not behind a spate of recent attacks.The story ended with the King of Peladon proposing to Jo Grant... Luckily she declined, otherwise she'd never have made the Doctor's bogus funeral and might never have met Sarah Jane!This week's clip comes from The Curse of Peladon and shows the moment where the Doctor is trying to hypnotise Aggedor using a mirror-like device and a Venusian lullaby.
