You've probably heard of Doctor Who Live - the brand new stage show which is about to go on tour around the UK. But what you may not know is that Doctor Who Live is a continuation of the 1973 episode Carnival of Monsters. Originally written by Robert Holmes, the episode starred Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as his companion Jo Grant - who incidentally makes a sensational return to the world of Doctor Who in the new series of The Sarah Jane Adventures. Appearing in a story written especially by Russell T Davies which also features the Eleventh Doctor, she was last seen as Jo Grant in The Green Death in 1973.

Discussing her return Katy said, 'Playing Jo Grant again is something I never really considered. I was gob-smacked when they told me and I am over the moon. What an incredible little treat.' Watch Katy's last appearance on Doctor Who as Jo says farewell to the Third Doctor in the Green Death..

It has also been revealed that Nigel Planer (The Young Ones) will be taking on the role of Vorgenson, a character adapted exclusively for Doctor Who Live by Executive Producer and Lead Writer Steven Moffat.

Visiting nine cities over twenty-five dates, Doctor Who Live starts at the Wembley Arena, London on the 8th October and continues to Sheffield, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, Cardiff and Liverpool ending in Belfast on the 7th November. More details and ticket information is available from the Doctor Who Live website.

If you can't wait for the Doctor Who Live tour to begin, why not take a look through our own Carnival of Monsters, featured as part of our Invasion Week.
