Happy Birthday Doctor Who...47 Today!

On this day in 1963 Doctor Who - An Unearthly Child was first broadcast and the legend began.

On a foggy London night, a policeman makes his rounds passing I.M. Foreman's junkyard at 76 Totters Lane. In the junkyard stands an incongruous-looking police box, from which emanates an eerie hum.

Birthday wishes from...

Who Fix has Happy Birthday (above pic), here's to the next 47 years...

Forbidden Planet International Blog has 23rd of November, 1963 – it’s just a question of Time…, It’s November 23rd, 1963; just a couple of months before Marvel started the X-Men, the Great Train Robbery had taken place, earlier in the year the Beatles had released Please Please Me, John F Kennedy had made his famous “ich bin ein Berliner” speech just a few months before, now the charismatic young president lies dead after his assassination in Texas. Television programmers rapidly re-arrange programmes around coverage of the assassination and fears that it may involve a foreign power, with all that would bring. A little known new programme avoids being cancelled or pushed too far back and goes out on the air the day after. It’s November 23rd, 1963 and the strains of an odd but soon to be iconic theme tune start to be heard in the living rooms of Britain: Doctor Who has arrived…

Fish Fingers and Custard has Happy 47th Birthday Doctor Who!, it's amazing to say that a television show we love so much is still on our screens, 47 years after the first episode aired.  It all started on the 23rd November 1963 with William Hartnell and An Unearthly Child.
