BBC Doctor Who

We've only seen the preview of A Christmas Carol and already we love it! Maybe we're biased, but really... The Doctor coming down a chimney, Michael Gambon being all Scroogey and brilliant, lots of snow, Amy, Rory and Katherine Jenkins all looking fab and that last line. What's not to love?

During 2010's Children in Need we got our first proper look at this year's Christmas adventure. Filming on the one-hour special wrapped in August and it had already been confirmed that the acclaimed Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, The Singing Detective) and opera diva Katherine Jenkins would be joining Matt Smith (the Doctor), Karen Gillan (Amy) and Arthur Darvill (Rory). Executive Producer and lead writer, Steven Moffat, had earlier revealed that 'It's all your favourite Christmas movies at once' and the preview underlined this, with scenes and sets awash with festive touches.

But who is Michael Gambon's cantankerous character and what forces does the Doctor face? What are Amy and Rory up to? And why does the Doctor proclaim he is the Ghost of Christmas Past? All will be revealed next month...

Doctor Who's inclusion in Children in Need also featured a dream-come-true day for two young people who got to have tea in the TARDIS! If you'd like to discover who benefits from your support of Children in Need, and to find out how to make a donation, please visit the official website.
