stv.tv has Matt Smith and Karen Gillan's line learning tricks, 'Doctor Who' stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan practise their lines together, as they often find it difficult to concentrate alone, the stars - who play the Time Lord and his assistant Amy Pond in the BBC One sci-fi drama - live in the same apartment block in Cardiff while they are filming the series, and often practise their scenes together, Matt explained: "We'll go to the supermarket every night, get a sandwich, and trot home to learn lines. Sometimes we'll phone each other and say, 'How's it going? Really badly? Me too. Do you want to come over and practise?'" ......

Stourbridge News has Write you own Sarah Jane adventure, libraries across the borough are inviting children and young people, aged seven and and over, to write a 500-word introduction to their very own adventure story for Doctor Who’s most popular companion, the closing date for submitting stories, which must include one of Sarah Jane’s young friends, is less than two weeks away - so youngsters are urged to get writing over the coming days for a chance to win a signed photograph of the actors who play Luke, Clyde and Rani in the popular BBC children’s programme, The Sarah Jane Adventures....

The Sun has Who's got an amazing voice?, opera singer Katherine Jenkins said Matt Smith kept her amused by singing to her while filming this year's Doctor Who Christmas special, but the Welsh star said it was Matt, who plays the Doctor, who did most of the crooning while they filmed the winter special, and she admitted the actor, 28, had a great singing voice,
the 30-year-old said: "I had a really good laugh with Matt between takes. He kept mucking around and singing to me but, you know, people should hear him - I think he's got a great bass voice......."

The Doctor Who News Page has A Christmas Carol debuts down under, TV Tonight reports that Carol averaged 880,000 viewers in the five major capital cities, despite stiff competition from the commercial networks. It won its time-slot, was the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's top-rating drama of the day and was the eighth highest rating programme of the day overall. Doctor Who at the Proms also rated a respectable 141,000 viewers at the early timeslot of 5pm.....

Sullen Cindy against the Universe has Stick Figure Dr Who Christmas Special, "my profuse apologies for the protracted absence - the thesis demanded to be finished, and I was but a servant to its will. Thankfully that dastardly thesis is out of my now clawed and beleaguered hands – which means it’s back to business as usual here at Sullen Cindy. And to begin with, it’s the Dr Who Xmas Special....."

Cathode Ray Tube has A Christmas Carol / Review, Moffat's pastiche of the Star Trek universe - old and new - opens the episode. The ultra-modern cruise ship on which Amy and Rory are spending their honeymoon is captained by a Janeway clone ("Christmas is cancelled" she decides, after a spot of turbulence) and features a blind navigator who really can't see where he's going despite the whopping great bionic, infra-red whatsit over his right eye ("I'm flying blind" certainly raised a chuckle).....

Tea with Morbius
has A Christmas Carol, "I did not have high expectations for this story, but I have to say that even I was surprised at how bad this was. This has to be the biggest load of garbage we have ever seen from the BBC Wales series. What surprises me most is that this story seems to be getting so many positive reviews and on comment threads, critics of the special are being dismissed as 'scrooges.' ...."

Behind the Sofa has "Mardryn Undead, to begin with", Stuart Ian Burns sings the praises of Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol, Happy Christmas! How are we all? Still suffering from mince pie indigestion and an overabundance of alcoholic cheer? Good, good. Let’s begin. Where was I? Right, that’s right, Christmas Doctor Who! Hooray! Now, for a good long while on my own blog, this blog, I had the tag line, “A vast archive in place of an imagination.”, which is used by the narrator in the Italian film Il Divo to describe its subject, former Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti, a cold, callous, meticulous, unfeeling man without a shred of warmth. A bit like Donna Noble at the beginning of The Runaway Bride.

Unreality Shout has Doctor Who Christmas Special - A Christmas Carol - Episode Review, it's generally said that Doctor Who Christmas episodes are no great shakes. I enjoyed The Christmas Invasion well enough, but years of giant cybermen and Kylie-In-Space disappointments haven't made festive Who essential viewing. Oh sure, we'll tune in, because we're obsessed. But expectations have been generally low....

Mirror.co.uk has Doctor Who Christmas special was nicely demented, Steven Moffat’s re-working of A Christmas Carol was gently demented. Highlights included Katherine Jenkins serenading a shark, fish that could swim in the fog, and the Doctor marrying Marilyn Monroe, it started like an episode of Space: 1999 with 4,003 people trapped in the skies, controlled by Kazran Sardick, a cross between Scrooge and Citizen Kane.....

Doc Oho's Big Finish audios reviews has A Sting in the Tale written by Paul Magrs and directed by Kate Thomas, the hornets have finally invaded the TARDIS…, whilst the characterisation of the Doctor has been of a high standard throughout this mini series I think this is my favourite so far because it shows him at his most desperate a flawed...

Atomic Anxiety has Rise of the Cybermen, Rise of Falsely Elevated Drama, is another one of these two-parters that they don’t call a two-parter. Why they do this is beyond me, and doesn’t ruin the enjoyment (or lack there-of) of the episodes, but it seems like it’s some kind of arbitrary decision, which is fitting because this two-parter is all full of arbitrary decisions that just seem made up to advance the story and falsely elevate the episode’s dramatic tension....

The Edwardian Adventurer has 052 – The Powerful Enemy (The Rescue Part 1), the TARDIS materializes on the planet Dido where survivors of a crashed ship are being menaced by the malevolent Koquillion, this episode has some great lighting. When a review starts this way, you should be concerned....

Radio Free Skaro has Episode 230 – Shark Bless Us, Everyone, 2010 was a great year for Doctor Who, and it was capped off by what all three hosts of Radio Free Skaro (and many, many others on the internet) consider to be the finest Doctor Who Christmas Special to date. A Christmas Carol had it all – strong story, superb writing, great performances, and was never in danger of jumping the very rickshaw pulling shark that featured several times in the episode. The Three Who Rule discuss all of this and more with great gusto, and give a few hints of their podcast plans for the year to come…
