BBC Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol - The BFI Preview

Click here for the BBC Site

On Monday, 13th December, A Christmas Carol was premiered at the BFI Southbank.

It may be an overworked word at Christmastime, but the whole event felt magical. The wide foyer of the BFI became part of the Doctor's world with a Dalek in one corner, silently watching the audience gather, and the TARDIS in another. The evening began with the choir of St Stephen's School, Shepherd's Bush, belting out - appropriately enough - some Christmas carols with a sizeable crowd getting into the festive spirit and joining in. As the songs drew to a close, Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Katherine Jenkins made a surprise appearance at the top of the steps overlooking the foyer and the people below broke into applause. The trio of stars from the Christmas special then gathered by the TARDIS, talked to the audience and choir members and hoped that everyone would enjoy the episode!

The screening was incredible. Gasps, laughter and a few discrete tears... The preview was followed by a Q&A featuring writer and Executive Producer Steven Moffat, Matt Smith and Katherine Jenkins. We can't tell you much about the session as we don't want to spoil A Christmas Carol for you, but after the episode airs we'll be bringing you video highlights of the Q&A.

But in the meantime, here's a taster of what happened when Christmas came early to London...

Big thanks to the BFI and everyone who came along!
