Special Sound, a new book chronicling the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop, written by Dr Louis Niebur, Assistant Professor of Musicology at the University of Nevada, ..traces the fascinating creation and legacy of the BBC's electronic music studio, the Radiophonic Workshop, in the context of other studios in Europe and America. The BBC built a studio to provide its own avant-garde dramatic productions with experimental sounds "neither music nor sound effect." Quickly, however, a popular kind of electronic music emerged in the form of quirky jingles, signature tunes such as Doctor Who, and incidental music for hundreds of programs. These influential sounds and styles, heard by millions of listeners over decades of operation on television and radio, have served as a primary inspiration for the use of electronic instruments in popular music.

In the late 1980's, BlueBird toys, makers of Polly Pocket and Mighty Max, devised a minature line of Doctor Who toys. Classical Gallifrey has Serial 105: City of Death, ...has a bit of a... reputation. For one, it stars the most famous and popular Doctor, Tom Baker. It's the one that is most universally loved of Doctor Who stories, and if you talk to fans of the original series who've seen a good portion of episodes, you'd not be hard pressed to find ones who would say "City of Death" is not one of their favourites.Unreality SF have...

Peter Hoar to direct 60-minute Series Six episode, earlier today we posted that according to director Peter Hoar’s online CV he is set to direct the 2011 Easter Special, what Easter Special? Yes, my thoughts exactly, no sooner was this revealed than his CV was updated with the reference to the Easter Special removed.
A Few hints for The Rebel Flesh and Gangers...., Matthew Graham’s two-part story is set in an office block staffed by clones. They go on to speculate that The Doctor himself is cloned and suggests that this might explain a few of the Brilliant Book spoilers with the clone-Doctor getting The Doctor’s catchphrases a bit wrong and making claims such as “Beau Geste is cool” and “Bromley-by-Bow is cool.”
So far all of the location filming for the episodes has taken place in Castles, namely Cardiff Castle and Caerphilly Castle. These locations would seem to suggest anything other than the office block setting or the futuristic setting that this poster has suggested, however since this is the first week of what will be a five or six week shoot the current locations certainly don’t disprove anything.
A six-sectioned prop in Caerphilly Castle, quite a sizable prop for the episodes, alternatively it might be part of a new tourist display. being six-feet tall and a lot of boxes were being carried in to the room containing the prop and the room itself isn’t adjacent to other rooms so it would be unlikely that the room was being used as a holding area for other filming, could this be a giant crank, with the holes allowing spokes to be added for filming? or is it more interesting that it has six sections, just like the TARDIS console?
Toby Whithouse writing for Series Six, in an interview with Crave Online Executive Producer Piers Wenger has revealed that Being Human creator Toby Whithouse is writing an episode for the coming series.
