this is Plymouth

Davros, lord and creator of the Dalek race and arch enemy of the Doctor, laid claim to Cornwall Street in Plymouth at the weekend.

Fans of the long-running sci-fi television series flocked to the Final Frontier in the West End of the city on Saturday to meet the arch villain in person, along with sci-fi illustrator Ben Morris.

They were signing copies of the Brilliant Book of Dr Who, illustrated by Ben Morris and published by BBC Books.

Samuel Gardner, of Final Frontier, said: "Dr Who, has been passed down from generation to generation, and in recent years its magic has really captured the nation.

"This was a great opportunity for people to meet the guys responsible for making some of that magic happen – and in many cases responsible for childhoods spent shaking in terror behind the sofa."

Terry Molloy first played Davros, the Doctor's most notorious adversary, in 1984, when he took on the role to battle against Peter Davidson in Resurrection of the Daleks.

He resumed the role against Colin Baker in Revelation of the Daleks and Sylvester McCoy in Remembrance of the Daleks. More recently Terry has revived the character in a series of audio adventures for Big Finish as well as donning the mask once again to bring Davros to life on stage in 2005.

In 2004 Ben started designing the Russell T Davis' Production Notes column in Dr Who Magazine and since then has gone on to work on regular commissions for BBC Magazines' Dr Who Adventures comic for younger fans.

Final Frontier is now gathering its troops for the Plymouth Christmas Carnival on Sunday, December 5, when a host of superheroes and villains will take to the streets.
