For those who haven't seen the Doctor Who episodes, "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead", the Vashta Nerada are one of the best monsters of the new Doctor Who. According to The Doctor, Vashta Nerada translates to "The Shadows That Melt Flesh," and the Doctor refers to them as "piranhas of the air". "Almost every species in the universe has an irrational fear of the dark. But they're wrong, 'cause it's not irrational. It's Vashta Nerada. It's what's in the dark.
